I am really interested in learning japanese because i love manga and anime and it looks like a really cool language to learn but my dad says i should learn spanish instead because it’s more usefull but i hate spanish. What do you think i should do? And please don’t say whatever i want because that’s not the answer im looking for.

When deciding on a foreign language, ask yourself which one you're most interested in learning, NOT which is most useful. If you're not interested in learning it, it's unlikely you'll ever reach a reasonable competence in the language. Since you're really interested in Japanese, you can definitely become competent, despite the fact that it's know to be a lot more difficult for a native English speaker than Spanish is.

It certainly isn't a useless language, and could easily get you a job involving Japanese.
BTW, about 130 Million people speak Japanese.

It's true that you'll have to learn a completely new writing system with an incredible abundance of complex characters-but perseverance brings reward!

So just forget about what you're dad says and have fun learning and using Japanese!!!
And who knows…you may end up living in Japan one day! =)

really, in what way wouldit improve this country ??

I feel the time it would take to learn Spanish would be better spent learning a skill that could be applied in the real world.

Please no answers like" So we can talk and understand the feelings of the illegal immigrants " .

No benefit for me. And I'd rather die than learn that language. It should be them learning ENGLISH- not us learning Spanish. It's oh so backwards…..

There are three main ways to learn Spanish. Spanish is a beautiful language and is one of the easier languages to learn and if you want to learn this lovely language.there are three ways.

Traditional Classes

A way that many people learn to speak Spanish is by taking traditional classes at a local University or Community College. Many colleges offer Spanish classes so people can learn the language with ease. But,for many people who have full time jobs, this can be quite difficult, and the cost is often too large.

Books

There are many different books that are sold to help you learn to speak the Spanish language. Books can be a great way to learn the language since you can take them with you almost anywhere, but there are drawbacks to this method of learning as well.It can not offer interactive learning. You are only able to read it and not hear it.

Online Courses

The invention of the internet has made everything easier right? You can now shop online, send letters, find information at the drop of a hat, even find your house in satellite pictures on Google Earth. However, you would of course think that as learning a language involves speaking, this is something you would not be able to do online. You would be wrong.

There are now many websites that allow you access to conversation exercises and vocabulary drills among other things. This allows people to learn the language from the comfort of their own home and at times that they choose. You only need to find a good online course.

Can someone please tell me, what are a few very good sites for an 9-11 year old to learn spanish?
My little sister wants to learn spanish terribly. I told her i'd find some site for her to learn. She's 11 years old

Spanish is better taught in a classroom than on the Internet. It's a very complicated language and there's a lot to cover. They should begin to teach spanish when they are in 8th grade or so. For now I would suggest she learn the words first and then wait until she learns it in school.

When it comes to languages, it’s no surprise that Spanish is one of the most popular! Many people are speaking Spanish now, all around the world! In fact,it is estimated that in the year 2015 the U.S will be the largest Spanish speaking country!

Why is speaking Spanish so hard?

Can you go up to one of your Spanish speaking neighbors and start a conversation? Can you help a Spanish speaking customer who comes into your store? Why not? Why is it so hard to learn to speak Spanish even after years of study?

Now I will tell you how to learn spanish fast:

1 Learn the pronunciation and how each letter is pronounced. Once this is established, you will find words can be said a lot easier.

2 Learn the basic verbs that we use in our language such as; go,come, bring etc. This will fill in missing pieces of sentences that some people forget.

3 The key to becoming more comfortable in speaking situations and learning to actually speak in Spanish is to practice and learn the sentences as a whole, not in separate words or pieces. Spend your time studying sentence construction.

4 Associate with Spanish as much as you can, interact and it will flow much easier. If you are unable to do this, watch Spanish films or films with Spanish subtitles. The more you listen the more you will learn!

5 I think interactive Spanish learning is the most effective.

These tips should get you on your way to learning Spanish-fast! It’s without a doubt one of the most practical languages to learn.

I say if Spanish speaking people are going to come over here, they should have to learn English. Not the other way around.
in school growing up, we are required to Spanish.
even in college for majors. I'm 26, and I remember looking at some majors that you would least expect that would require spanish classes.

Actually, we have no national language. You act like it is an insult to you if someone speaks spanish.
Do you think that being biligual is a negative trait?

If people don't want to learn English, let them suffer. They will never succeed here, and they shouldn't. Well, not unless they live in Miami or Puerto Rico (which is a US territory).

Stop taking it so personally. If you go to Puerto Rico, Guam, or the Philippines would you expect people to speak English? They are all owned by the US.

Also, why are you just attacking Spanish-speaking people? Are you prejudiced?

If you don't want to learn another language, you don't have to. Just fail the class. Do you feel the same about math, history, home ec, or phys ed. Just do your best. It is very respectable to speak other languages.

For some people, it is not required that they speak English to contribute to the USA. Its not as if you get off the boat from Chile and then suddenly English flows from your mouth like a Shakespearian King.

MOST of the latin immigrants want to be able to speak English, and most of try to learn, and eventually succeed. It just takes time. They are only human.

It is a very respectable thing to speak more than one language. If you don't want to learn another one, that is fine. But it would definately improve how people see you and how you see yourself. I'm not saying learn Spanish, I am just saying that it would be a very respectable quality. If you want, you could try to learn German, French, Italian, Dutch or whatever. Don't be so closed minded that you aren't trying to improve yourself.

I need to learn Spanish by October. I am going to live in Peru for eight weeks then and although I am assured that I'll learn quickly when I'm there, I really would like to learn as much Spanish before then.

What is the best way to achive this. I currently Don't speak a word and have been studying French for the last year. I was considering a SPanish speaking course in Spain during my summer holidays. But until then does anyone have any ideas on how best to start, and start quickly.
Oh, I'm currently in med school and time is limited too, not happy unless I have a challenge lol.

There is a fantastic product called 'get into Spanish'. Its by the BBC and it enables you to learn Spanish really quickly. There is a book, audio CD and CD-ROM. I highly recommend it. Go to the BBC shop online depending on which country you are in ot try EBAY.
